Welcome the Home of AYA 2010

Our goal: A once-in-a-lifetime visit to the 'Cradle of Aviation'

Overview Dayton, Ohio

The next annual AYA International Convention will be held in Dayton, Ohio, USA on July 12,13,14,15, and 16, 2010. This is a Monday through Friday format adding another full day to allow time for socializing and free time for exploration. Monday is the arrival day similiar to the last few conventions. The name of the airport is Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport (KMGY) and it is located adjacent to the city on the southwest edge.

The theme of the Convention is "Cradle of Aviation". General Aviation (GA) started with the Wright Brothers here in Dayton and our Aviation started with American Aviation in Cleveland with the production of the "Yankee", thus Ohio as the "Cradle of Aviaiton". Come and let us 'Rock You'!

Planning is well underway and there will be all of the usual events and activities plus a few brand-new ones. The location is centrally located in the great Midwest of the United States. This is a wonderful place for convention and your convention chairs, Roscoe and Luann, plus a great planning staff are working hard to make this a great convention and a once-in-a-lifetime memory at the birthplace of aviation. Just a little over 100 years ago Orville and Wilbur Wright brought the Dream of Flight to reality.

Dayton is located on the beautiful Miami River situated among grand vistas of farmland. Located in the wonderful Midwest of the United States it can be seen to lie just south of the Great Lakes. Dayton is center of activity for the 1.5 million folks who call the metro area home. Just to the east of the city is Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where on its Huffman Prairie, the Wright brothers fullfilled their dream of powered flight. Today the Air Force houses the huge Air Force Museum (4-hangars worth) where we will be having a private dinner, Wednesday Night.

There is so much to see in Dayton, NCR was started here, Delco starters, the wonderful Aviation Trail, parks, restaurants and much, much more make Dayton a convention venue that is a must-to-see! To assist those of you traveling from overseas to convention this year, our Hotel, the Holiday Inn Dayton Mall has offered exctended convention rates for those who wish to come early, stay late, or both.

Convention is FUN! So is the journey to attend and the flight home. Flying over the countryside with fellow grumman owners nearly rivals the time spent at convention. The goal of this convention is to have lots of FUN, and to that end, we have added a whole extra day to spend with old and new friends in the AYA.

We are very pleased to announce that Cathy Boyko has agreed to be our Convention Photographer! Cathy is an awesome photographer, shooting both digital and 35mm and is known for her Oshkosh photos.

Make your plans now to be in Dayton, Ohio, this July and look for more convention information here and in future AYA Stars!
